Bauhaus typography - clean, sharp, designed geometry, often dominated by the triplets in color of red, white and black. I concur...To the extent that I will link some samples from a design epoch that has so much to offer information architects today.
So I am drawn to Bauhaus design. It is inspirational. It is Beauty. And a couple of days ago I saw this.
Information design in our current infrastructure. The beauty of the design is captured in the angle and the composition, transforming the content/the information into something more. I see angled squares and circles playing around with font-types and colors. Sharp, erect and force-full. Like Bauhaus? Like Bauhaus
The Chill Out room at Ritter Butzke I enter - and step into a huge living room. Not mine...ours. For the duration. Set by a simple principle of "Do as you please, this is your space. And offer the people around you the same freedom". The club community. No strings attached, and yet connected by a shared idea. Or even vision. I wonder how many of us manage to take the same principles with us home and further into our work.
The dj re-mixes, breaks down, breaks up, Steve Wonder when he just called to say I Love You - unevenly pitched with some strong digital noize, before hitting me with Autechre. I smile.
7-8 projectors, all from different time periods is streaming beautifully patterned visuals. The walls are covered in white sheets, the lighting is in-direct making the pictures projected seems like old 19th century photos, even though their content is of our age. I stand up, bring out my mechanical eye while immersed in slow, deep electronic beats, and start shooting.
Many of visuals fade in and out, like a slow heart beat. A couple moves into my view - caressing each other, maneuvering the deep electronic beats. I see beauty - my mechanical eye needs upgrading.
